Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This Sandisk m250 2GB MP3 Player comes in a recyclable easily opened white cardboad box that eliminates wasteful color printing and minimizes using PVC windows and difficult-to-open plastic blister packs normally found in traditional retail packaging. Weighing not much more than its power source (a single AAA battery), the Sansa m250 2 GB flash memory digital audio player is a full-featured, ultra-portable MP3 player. The m250 includes FM radio and voice recording, a backlit LCD screen that displays ID3 tag information, support for multiple file formats, and full compatibility with most subscription services. The 2 GB Sansa m250 will hold approximately 32 hours of CD-quality MP3 tracks (encoded at 128kps) or 64 hours of WMA tracks (at 64kbps). It's compatible with MP3, WMA, secure WMA, and Audible audio file formats. The backlit LCD screen shows ID3 tag information for the currently playing track (song title, artist and album). Navigate the music on your player with ease, sorting by artist, album, song title, playlist or other criteria. With five equalizer types, you can optimize your sound for your favorite style of music, such as, Rock, Jazz, Classical, Pop, and Custom (user-defined). Keep the music coming with up to 19 hours continuous playback using one AAA Battery. Sansa m250 MP3 Player, Earphones, AAA battery, USB 2.0 travel cable, and Quick Start Guide.

5 out of 5 stars Love It   November 28, 2009

I've had this Mp3 player for at least 3 or 4 years now and it's still going strong. I recently upgraded to an 8 G Fuze (also an excellent Mp3 player) and I gave this player to my mom. She likes that it has a radio. This Mp3 player is easy to use, light weight, and at a great price. You'd be surprised how many songs it can hold!

4 out of 5 stars Very Handy little Device   November 22, 2009
Aloysious (Albuquerque, NM United States)
This is the 2nd one of these that I have purchased (my other-half has 2 as well). It's rather easy to use. Holds a ton of music, and comes with the ear-buds, a battery, and a USB cable to plug into your computer.

This is not the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it works for what I need - it plays mp3s.

There are a couple of quirks:
1) Occasionally, after booting it up, it will hang. Just remove the battery, and put it back in again.
2) It will not always start on the track where you stopped it last. This means the battery needs to be replaced.
3) If you delete files from it, some space still may be taken up by it. You really should to use the Sync option with Windows Media Player.

Otherwise, I use it often (when I'm taking the bus to work, riding my bike, or on a plane/train trip). And for the price, it's a winner in my book.

4 out of 5 stars Nice mp3 player   November 3, 2009

I own 4 of these mp3 players. The range in capacity from 1 to 4 gigabytes. Obviously I really like them.

PROS:
They operate by using 1 AAA battery. I repeat, 1 AAA battery.
That is the single best thing I can say about these units and
believe me it is a HUGE plus. I DO NOT have to worry about
battery life. I keep one of these little gems in one pocket
and an extra battery (rechargeable or not) in another pocket.
If my battery runs low I DO NOT have to take my player "out of
service" while I recharge it's expensive built in battery. I
simply change the readily available AAA battery that powers it
for hours on end. How nice is that?

FM tuner. When I first bought one of these it was hard to
find a unit that had any sort of radio reception. This one
does and it works well.

Recording capability. This unit can be used to record notes
classroom lectures, etc. as it has a built in microphone.
The quality is not great but it will do.

It is easy to use once you get the hang of it. The software
and instruction manual that come with this unit are simply
bad. Fortunately I got help online from SanDisk and other
sources. I use Rhapsody to manage my players and I have no
problems.

CONS:
Lousy software. Windows media player is NOT good for
managing this unit. I use Rhapsody and it works great. It
took some time and persistence on my part but I now under-
stand how to use and manage these players.

No video capability.

Relatively small capacity. The largest unit available holds
4 gigs. That's more than enough for me but it's not for
everyone.

Bad headphones. So what else is new? I can't remember the
last time I got decent headphones with a music player whether
it was a tapedeck (I am a member of the over 50 set who used
and remembers the first 4 AA battery eating cassette players),
mini disc player, or mp3 player.

I really like these units. I know what their limitations are and I can easily live with them. I am sorry to see that none of the newer mp3 players (not even SanDisk) run on "disposable" batteries. They are all powered by very expensive to replace built in batteries. I will not be buying anything with a built in battery unless I have no other choice.

5 out of 5 stars This is pretty cool...   September 17, 2009

I use this to listen to music in my car. It did fit as much as I wanted on it and it does take a minute to figure out how to get songs on it, but once you do it works great. It does prefer to be used with Windows Media Player rather than to have files dropped on it. You can set it up to be a drive or as a music device in Media Player. Works great and is awesome on batteries, big plus!! Only downside is that it is not expandable. Oh, and it is bigger and bulkier than it looks.

2 out of 5 stars Can't delete from the player...   August 31, 2009

You can't delete songs or podcasts after you've listened to them. You need to go back to your computer and take the file off from there. Frustrating for those of us who listen to podcasts or audiobooks and want to immediately delete after listening.
